Pepsi ONE

(Redirected from Pepsi One)

Pepsi ONE (in some countries called Pepsi Max) is a cola-flavored soft drink made by Pepsi, with only one Calorie per 12 oz.-can. It was introduced in the fall of 1998 as an alternative to Diet Pepsi, and targeted men in their 20's. The original ad campaign featured the famous actor Cuba Gooding Jr. and the slogan "just one calorie".

It was originally sweetened with acesulfame potassium, a non-nutritive sweetener which was introduced more recently than saccharin or aspartame (Nutrasweet). Some consumers claim that this sweetener gave the drink a better taste compared to other diet colas.

After several years of declining sales, Pepsi ONE was revitalized in early 2005. A new formula was introduced, replacing the acesulfame potassium sweetener with sucralose (Splenda), which was accompanied with new packaging and a new advertising campaign.
