Howrah Bridge

(Redirected from Rabindra Setu)

Howrah Bridge, also known as the Rabindra Setu, is a cantilever bridge over the Hoogli River in West Bengal, India. It is so named as it links the city of Howrah (at the point of Howrah Station) to its twin city of Kolkata.

The bridge was built in 1943 and is said to be the busiest bridge in the world. It is 97 metres high and 705 metres long [1].

The bridge also has sister bridges over the river at different points, namely the Vidyasagar Setu and the Vivekananda Setu.
