Reich, as the German word for "realm" or "empire", traditionally used for sovereign entities, including Germany. It refers to any country with a King or Queen as head of state, such as Britain, is a Königreich (kingdom). It is still used as a suffix in certain country names, for instance Frankreich (France). When used in English, history lends it to carry a connotations of German nationalism, related to the Holy Roman Empire, and the Third Reich.
