Remise (fencing)

Remise

The remise is a continuation of an attack. It is preformed when a defender has parried

but faulters in his riposte or preforms a compound riposte . If the deffener does one of these two things and the attacker continues his attack in a remise then the attacker regains the right of way. The remise is a good way of regaining the right of way from fencers who faulter in their riposte or often preform compound ripostes.
