Riga Radio and TV Tower

Riga Radio and TV Tower is the tallest structure in Riga, Latvia. Its highest point reaches 368.5m\1209ft, which makes it the third tallest tower in Europe. At the height of 97m, there's an observation platform (that being the highest in Riga) from which most of the city can be seen (and in good weather, the Gulf of Riga), and many of the city surroundings.

The tower is built on an island called Zakusala , which is located in the altitude about 7m above the sea level. The tower is said to be able to withstand even extreme wind, at speeds of up to 44m/s, without any noticeable vibration amplitude.

The tower started broadcasting in 1986.
