Ringgold is a city located in Catoosa County, Georgia. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,422. The city is the county seat of Catoosa County.
Ringgold is where the locomotive General stopped during the great locomotive chase on April 12, 1862. On March 14, 2002, fog played havoc with one of the worst pileups in history, 125 vehicles crashed on Interstate 75 and only 4 people passed away in one of the worst accidents in Ringgold's history.
Also infamous for a plaque in county courthouse with the 10 Commandments, with one blank plaque next to the 10, so as to be tolerant!

The racial makeup of the city is 91.33% White, 6.32% African American, 0.25% Native American, 0.50% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.58% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. 1.82% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
