Robert B. Hall

One of America's preeminent march composers, Robert B. Hall was born in Maine in 1858 and seldom left his native state during his short life, though his music travelled around the world. In fact his work was so popular in England that many believed R. B. Hall to be an English composer.

As a cornet soloist, conductor, composer and teacher, R. B. Hall is still remembered in the Pine Tree State—in fact, the last Saturday in June every year is officially R. B. Hall Day in Maine.

Hall left us over a hundred marches, among other compositions, including such classics as:

  • Officer of the Day
  • Independentia
  • The New Colonial
  • Tenth Regiment
  • Gardes du Corps
