Sapindales

The Sapindales is an order of flowering plants included among the rosid subgroup of dicotyledons. Inclusion of the following families is now typical of newer taxonomic schemes:

• Family Sapindaceae (soapberry family)
• Family Nitrariaceae
• Family Rutaceae (citrus family)
• Family Meliaceae (mahogany family)
• Family Simaroubaceae
• Family Anacardiaceae (cashew family)
• Family Burseriaceae (frankincense family)
• Family Kirkiaceae

Under the older Cronquist system, some genera of Sapindaceae were placed in separate families (Aceraceae and Hippocastanaceae), and the following families were included in the Sapindales:

• Family Staphyleaceae
• Family Melianthaceae
• Family Bretschneideraceae
• Family Akaniaceae
• Family Julianiaceae
• Family Cneoraceae
• Family Zygophyllaceae

Species comprising the Nitrariaceae were included within the Zygophyllaceae, and those in the Kirkiaceae within the Simaroubaceae.
