Shangzhi

Shangzhi is a county-level city located in the southeast of Heilongjiang province, in China. It is 124 kilometres away from the provincial capital Harbin and has an area of approximately 9,000 square kilometres, and a population of approximately 600,000.

The city of Shangzhi was once called Zhuhe (珠河). It was developed during the years of Emperor Guangxu in the late Qing dynasty, and was renamed to Shangzhi to memorise the anti-Japan war hero Zhao Shangzhi in 1946.

The most famous place in Shangzhi is Yabuli (亚布力) Skiing Centre, it is the 1st largest in Asia and 3rd largest in the world.
