Shippan Point

Shippan Point

Shippan Point (or Shippan) is the southernmost neighborhood in Stamford, Connecticut, located on a peninsula in Long Island Sound. It is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the city - the current mayor of Stamford, Dannell Malloy, lives there. Full of residential streets with names such as Ocean Drive West and Lighthouse Way, Shippan Point features many large homes, some of which overlook the water and have private beaches. It is even possible to see the skyline of Manhattan from the southernmost part of the neighborhood.

Shippan Point is just southeast of South End, one of Stamford's most blighted neighborhoods. This dichotomy is characteristic of Stamford and much of Connecticut, where there is a large, polarizing gap between rich and poor (in this case the gap is a canal).

Shippan is home to two beach clubs, The Stamford Yacht Club and Woodway Beach Club.
