Sleepy Hollow (movie)

Sleepy Hollow (1999; see also 1999 in film) is a historical fantasy film interpreting the legend of the Headless Horseman and based loosely around the Washington Irving story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow".

It stars Johnny Depp as Ichabod Crane and Christina Ricci as Katrina Van Tassel. Primary filming was carried out at Leavesden Film Studios.

The plot concerns a rural community in 1799, where inhabitants are being decapitated, and their heads taken. The locals believe a ghost, the Headless Horseman, is responsible, but Ichabod Crane, a constable sent to investigate from New York, only believes in science. He is eager to find the murderer and prove his scientific methods' worth. He discovers that there really is a ghost, but must find the human force behind it before more heads roll.
