Slovak Soviet Republic (in Slovak: Slovenská republika rád = literally: Slovak Republic of Councils - it was before the Russian word совет (council) become widespread in Slovak and other languages) was a short lived communist state in south and eastern Slovakia from 16 June to 7 July 1919. Created under the influence of the Hungarian Soviet Republic (and on the territory occupied by its army) and led by the Czech Antonín Janoušek, it ceased to exist when the Hungarian Soviet Republic army retired to Hungary.
