Sole

The Sole is the bottom of the foot. Much like the palm of the hand, it has thicker skin than most other parts of the body, and is relatively less pigmented. A set of creases, formed in the womb, criss-cross the sole. [1]

In footwear, sole also refers to the bottom of a shoe.

The "Sole" of the foot is known in medical terms as the plantar aspect.
