Spring (water)

A spring is a place where an underground stream flows out of the ground. Springs form when rain soaks into an aquifer or other underground geologic feature that absorbs and stores water. Where the water table meets the surface, a spring is formed. As it flows underground, water picks up minerals from rocks, and so water flowing from a spring is often bottled and sold as mineral water, though the term is often the subject of deceptive advertising.
