Spring Heel Jack

See also Spring Heeled Jack (Paranormal phenomena).

English duo Spring Heel Jack (John Coxon and Ashley Wales the latter formerly a composer of "serious" music, an influence that carried over to much of the duo's work) are perhaps best known for releasing a trio of drum n bass albums during the 1990s, while dabbling with mainstream music as producer for Betty Boo and collaboratoring with Everything But The Girl.

More recently they have moved away from drum n bass to collaborate with free improvisors from the United States and Europe for the Thirsty Ear label. Collaborators have included saxophonists Evan Parker and Tim Berne, bassist William Parker, trombonist Paul Rutherford, drummer Han Bennink and pianist Matthew Shipp.
