In foundry work, a "Sprue" is the passage through which metal is poured into a mold. The term can also refer to the excess metal on a rough casting, which solidified in the sprue hole.
In medical terms, "Sprue" refers to celiac disease also known as celiac sprue. Celiac Sprue "is an autoimmune disorder characterized by damage to all or part of the villi lining the small intestine".
