Stephen Batchelor

Born 1953. Moved to Dharamsala where he was ordained as a novice monk in 1974. After living for periods in Switzerland and South Korea he disrobed in 1985. Went to live at Sharpham College in Totnes for 15 years. He now lives in the south of France.

He has written numerous articles and several books, including Buddhism Without Beliefs : A Contemporary Guide to Awakening.

Since 1985, he is married to Martine Batchelor .
