Sverker Åström, born 1915, is a Swedish diplomat, 1953–63 head of the foreign ministry's political department, 1964–70 ambassador to the United Nations, 1972–77 Secretary General of the foreign ministry, replaced due to the Social Democrats' election defeat in 1976, and 1978–82 ambassador to Paris.
Politically, Åström was firmly connected to the dominant Social Democratic party.
At the age of 88, Sverker Åström in 2003 officially came out as a homosexual.
