.

The Liberator was an abolitionist newspaper founded in 1831 by William Lloyd Garrison. Although its paid circulation was only about 3,000, three-quarters of whom were African Americans, it earned nationwide notoriety for its advocacy of "immediate and complete emancipation of all slaves" in the United States.

The Liberator was published until 1865 when the American Civil War came to a close and the 13th Amendment abolished slavery in all the states.
