The UNIX Virus

While viruses do occur on Unix and Unix-like systems, they tend to be far less common than in other environments. Indeed, The UNIX Virus is just a joke propagated via email. An old meme with no standard form, it usually says something like:

YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE UNIX VIRUS!

This virus works on the honor system.
Please randomly delete some of your files and forward this to everyone
you know.

The joke is that since Unix users do not experience viruses, they must do it by hand. It is unknown who wrote the original message.
