Tungsten carbide

Tungsten carbide, WC or W₂C, is an alloy of tungsten and carbon similar to titanium carbide. Its extreme hardness makes it useful in the manufacture of cutting tools, abrasives and bearings, as a cheaper alternative to diamond.
