Urethral sounding

Sounding or urethral sounding is a medical activity using probes called sounds to locate obstructions in the urethra.

Sounding in a sexual context involves inserting medical sounds and sometimes catheters into the urethra (sometimes stretching or dilating the urethra), and sometimes bladder, for the purpose of sexual pleasure.

Sounding is sometimes associated medical play or with control and dominance (see BDSM) (if catheters are inserted into the bladder there is an associated loss of bladder control).
