Dual-licensing: this doesn't take long
The Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license (CC-By-SA) is a lot like the GFDL, but without the invariant sections and the Stallman power trip. It's also much clearer about how to attribute contributions.
The GFDL might be fixed. Or CC-By-SA might make it obsolete. Wikipedia is already incompatible with lots of other free content that uses CC-By-SA. By multi-licensing your content, you can help Wikipedia prepare for whatever happens, and make your contributions usable (with attribution) in other free content. All you need to do is add this to your user page:
{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}
Rant on the misuse of "sockpuppet"
A sockpuppet is an account or identity controlled by the same person as another account or identity.
A sockpuppet is not:
- A user with no/few edits
- An inexperienced Wikipedia user who dares to participate in a vote
- One of a group of new users who arrive at the same time for the same reason
Misusing the term to mean one of those things is insulting and elitist.
Contributions
- My first edit was an extensive article about Parsing expression grammars. (The current page there is the result of a merge.)
- I provided the contrary POV on Universal grammar.
- I frequently browse to random pages and fix spelling and grammar. Sometimes I hunt vandals. (Sshh! Be vewwy vewwy quiet!)
- I am currently waging an uphill battle to cut down the number of personal attacks against newbies on VfD.
- I expanded the Quorum article from being a stub.
