Vacuum state

In quantum field theory, the vacuum state, usually denoted |0\rangle, is the element of the Hilbert space with the lowest possible energy, and therefore containing no physical particles. It also happens to be Poincaré invariant . See also vacuum. It is analogous to the ground state of the quantum harmonic oscillator.
