Visual Studio.NET 2005 is the latest development suite from Microsoft, due for release in the first quarter of 2005.
Based on the latest version of the .NET Framework (V2) this latest version of Visual Studio is currently in Alpha testing with a Public Beta due in June 2004.
Visual Studio 2005 will:
- Reduce the amount of coding a developer has to write by up to 70%
- Assist Web Developers to develop Accessible Web Sites (According to recent Accessibility Legislation)
- Allow users to develop Web Sites that can be personalised (e.g. different content can be displayed to different people)
The key developer of ASP.NET, Scott Guthrie maintains a BLOG (Web Log) which includes information about this new release.
The last of those links (Mark Cliggett's Log) is very interesting in describing Microsoft's current and developing philosophy with regards to making early builds of their software available to the general public on a regular basis
