Vladimir Keilis-Borok

Vladimir Keilis-Borok was born in Moscow, Russia on July 31, 1921. He is a geophysicist.

In 1948, he received a Ph.D. in mathematical geophysics from the Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Recently, his team of researchers have used new methods for earthquake prediction, correctly predicting earthquakes in San Simeon (December 2003) and Japan (September 2003). However, a magnitude 6.4 or greater earthquake that his team predicted would hit Southern California between January 5, 2004 and September 5, 2004 never materialized.

Dr. Keilis-Borok is also known for his work with Allan Lichtman that uses the mathematics of pattern recognition to correctly predict the popular vote winner of presidential elections in the United States from 1984 to 2004.

Currently Dr. Keilis-Borok teaches at the University of California, Los Angeles.
