Vladimir Sofronitsky is a Russian pianist and a pupil, follower, and son-in-law to Alexander Scriabin. His interpretations of Scriabin's music are unparalleled. Few of his recordings are available in the West. One noteworthy recording, in the BMG "Russian Piano School" series, contains a complete concert, including a wonderful, dreamy, mercurial account of Robert Schumann's first piano sonata, Op. 11.
