Walter Leaf

Walter Leaf (1852 - 1927), English banker and scholar, was born at Norwood, London, on November 26, 1852 and educated at Harrow and Trinity College, Cambridge. In 1877 he entered the family firm, becoming in 1888 chairman of Leaf and Company Ltd. Later he became chairman of the Westminster Bank . He was one of the founders of the International Chamber of Commerce, of which he was elected president in 1925. From 1919 to 1921 he was president of the Institute of Bankers. He was president of the Hellenic Society and the Classical Association .
