White Pony

White Pony is the Deftones' third album, released in 2000. It is the follow up to Around the Fur, which was released in 1997. The song "Passenger" features the guest vocals of Tool's Maynard James Keenan. The band won a Grammy award for Best Metal Performance for the song "Elite" in 2001.

A total of 4 different versions of the album exist.

On its release date, limited edition copies were released with solid red and black jewel cases. The two different colored cases also featured different insert booklets. Both limited edition versions included the added track "The Boys Republic," but did not include "Back to School."

What was supposed to be released as the non-limited version of the album featured a grey cover with a white horse in the corner. It also did not feature the "Back to School" track. Because Maverick Records felt the album did not contain a song suitable for release as a follow-up single to "Change (In the House of Flies)", "Back to School" was added. The album was then re-released with a white cover.

White Pony is also street slang for Cocaine.
