Whydah Gally

The Whydah Gally was the galley-style ship of the pirate "Black Sam" Bellamy. It was named after a West African trading post. The ship sank off Cape Cod on April 26, 1717.

The Whydah has been the site of extensive underwater archaeology. It is one of only two confirmed pirate ships to be salvaged in modern times. (The other being the "Queen Anne's Revenge" which was Blackbeard's ship).
