Wildcat (comics)

Wildcat is a fictional character, a superhero published by DC Comics.

Boxer Ted Grant donned the Wildcat costume beginning in Sensation Comics #1 (January 1942, the same issue where Wonder Woman,Mister Terrific premiered). He became a member of the Justice Society of America and the All-Star Squadron. During the Crisis on Infinite Earths, Ted's spinal cord was injured and he was told he would never walk again. His god-daughter, the mutant Yolanda Montez, swore to carry on his crime-fighting efforts and adopted his black Wildcat costume and nom de guerre. Her superhuman powers included retractable claw-like fingernails. As Wildcat, she became a member of Infinity Inc., but was later killed in Eclipso #13 (November 1993). Ted later recovered, and joined the re-formed Justice Society of America. He recently claimed to have magically acquired "9 lives" early in his career, and has in fact survived several otherwise fatal injuries.
