The Wood Anemone (Anemone sylvestris) is found in dry decidous woodlands of Central and Western Europe. They prefer soils with a high content of nutrients. Their flowers appear before the trees get their leaves. The plant is forms thick stands on the forest floors. It is considered rare today.
